Our Engagment Story | Personal Post | Sherwood Park Edmonton Photographer

On July 10th, 2014 –  I got engaged. Yup, you heard that right. This wedding photographer is getting married!

I thought I would share a little bit of the story with you. First of all, I will start with how awful I am at telling the story – I basically blanked and forgot everything as soon as I realized what was going on but I will try my best! We usually plan dates weeks in advance so we know we can make time for each other in our busy schedules.  Sam (my fiance) planned this one, he took me to the park where he first told me he loved me. We actually considered cancelling cause the weather was not the greatest but we decided to brave the cold wind that evening.

On the way there he had me guessing where we were going and what we were having for dessert (dessert is after all the best part of all meals!). Once we got there he had me guess the exact spot where he first told me he loved me 3ish years ago – I eventually found it! We then sat down and ate sushi and had some wine out of the trusty cranberry juice container, we are super sneaky we know. After dinner he asked me when are first date was, after a few awful guesses I ended up guessing about a week from the real date. He then pulled out the ticket to the Improv show we went to on our very first date. We continued on with talking – then we got on the topic of dessert. So he had me turn around so I could guess what it was, as I was turned around he started saying me full name – I turned around and hugged him before he even said the full “Kristilee Anne Parish will you marry me?” I think I may have turned around once he said my middle name. Then I just started crying (as you will see in the photos below) and oops I forgot to say yes! He finally said “So.. is that a yes?!” Sorry Sam, I just had to keep the suspense up! After finally saying yes, I looked at the ring – I have to say he did a pretty damn good. We sat there talking (and crying) for a while. He told me that there was a photographer there and of course more water works started as Carla, from Carla Lehman Photography came crawling out of the bushes. After saying bye to Carla we ate frozen yogurt and took some selfies (of course) and went to tell our families. Most of them knew but it was still very exciting to come home to a bunch of very happy family members. I went to bed that evening with a very sore face from all the smiling and a very happy heart. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us and I definitely can’t wait to call Sam my husband.
