2014 Goal Update | Personal Post | Sherwood Park & Edmonton Photographer

Holy man, I can not believe it is already April. I have already had the pleasure of shooting two wedding this year (blog posts are coming, I promise). Wedding season officially starts May 3rd and then doesn’t end till November – it’d unbelievably how quickly “slow” season went by. I thought now would be a great time to update you all on my goal list that I shared with the world on my birthday. If you follow me on instagram you will know that there have been a lot of changes coming and well by the looks of my blog you can see this is one of them! I have been feverishly working to transfer my posts over from my old blog onto my shiny new blog (okay – maybe not shiny but definitely new!) Let me know what you think of the new look and if there is anything wonky going on!

Personal Goals:

  • Take time to do other things I love (not “work” related) I am leaning towards knitting, anyone have any other hobby suggestions?
  • Workout five times a week –  Half complete, I have been able to workout 3-4 times a week. I think that’s a win (& I can officially do about 10 chin ups – hopefully that will help me carry my camera all day 😉
  • Work/Life balance.
  • Create personal photo albums.
  • Travel to Australia to see my dear friends who will be living there.
  • Sleep more.
  • Clear out the clutter. Cleared out my make up drawer and all my paper work so far!
  • Shoot more photos in my personal life.
  • Cut my spending.
  • Keep saving.
  • Learn to not be so hard on myself.
  • Do a DIY project once a month – my pinterest board is over flowing. I have been baking a lot, so I think that counts. P.S I found the BEST Cinnamon bun recipe! Not the best for my gluten intolerance but they are definitely worth the stomach ache. haha
  • Drink more water. Work in progress.
  • Run another half marathon. –  I want to finish a full marathon before I’m 25, 2 years to train up!
  • NEW: Read more books. Any one have any must read book suggestions!
  • NEW: Organize my closet.

Most of these are slow work in progress “projects” and I can say I have been working hard to make most of these happen!

Business Goals:

  • Finish my new website.
  • Hand out more business cards. I am AWFUL at this. I have had about 500 for the last 3 years. I maybe hand out 1 every six months
  • NEW: Design & Print new business cards. Realizing my old untouched business cards don’t suit my brand anymore.
  • Photograph a proposal. Do you know anyone planning on proposing soon?? Wouldn’t be exciting to secretly catch it on camera??
  • Update blog twice three times a week. Now that I have my fancy new blog hopefully I will be able to stay on top of this one!
  • Keep expenses updated.. and I am almost caught up from last year, only one business to go!
  • Shoot one destination wedding. Anyone know anyone leaving the country!?!? I would loveee to be involved!!
  • Continue to learn. I have been ready a lot of photography books, listening to interviews and watching tutorials
  • Either do a workshop or mentorship. I have signed up to do a workshop in May with two amazing photographers! Soo excited!
  • Experiment more while shooting, don’t be afraid to fail occasionally
  • Book 14 weddings in 2014  I have 21 booked, yah for completing goals!
  • Book 23 weddings for 2015 –  I am sitting at 6 already 🙂
  • Shoot more film. The above photos are all personal film shots
  • Organize one styled shoot, like this one
  • Get two weddings published.  Hannah & Isaac’s picnic engagement featured here & Lainie & Jared’s wedding featured here & here
  • Set times to check emails. It is not necessary to check emails every 20 minutes.
  • Find more hidden photo shoot locations in Edmonton
  • NEW: Design & Print new sample albums

Do you have your goals posted somewhere? Does it help you stay focused and achieve them? I would LOVE to hear about what you want to achieve over the next 9 months.
